David Wyatt Biography

Every few years an artist emerges from the acoustic roots scene who is genuinely a world-class talent. A few years back it was David Gray and most recently Damien Rice, continuing this trend - enter - David Wyatt! His influences reach further back and his beautifully intimate debut release shares some of the fine qualities of Jeff Buckley and Nick Drake, but unmistakably combined with his own unique, contemporary and original vintage quirkiness. ‘China on Paper Planes’ reflects David's genuine bohemian and Gemini musicality, marrying the heart and soul of a poet with the raunch ‘n’ roll of a natural roots rocker. His voice is powerful, evocative and emotive, with soaring dynamics covering four octaves, complimented expertly by his own percussive guitar style and the craft and virtuoso playing of his superb band.

The sheer quality of David Wyatt's music is the driving force behind the formation of Musician Records by the management of the Midlands premier roots music venue The Musician. Some of the world's best roots performers in the Americana, blues and folk roots genres have performed at The Musician and David's talent as a live performer and recording artist is the primary motivation behind this the label’s debut release, with others to follow.

David Wyatt has been generating a huge buzz on the live scene for a year or so now, with stunning sold out gigs, excellent support tours and main stage festival appearances all of which have attracted the attention of the music industry whilst building a solid fan base.
